Well it will be well and truly under way, the most prestigious horticultural event of the year - The RHS Chelsea Flower Show, deemed by some as the Greatest Flower Show on Earth.
Unfortunately I wont be attending this year - the first year in which I won't be physically there in 8 years. I love the razzle dazzle of Chelsea and the hum of the crowds, some quietly talking among themselves others completely bewildered by what can only be described as a feat of modern ingeniousity. It constantly amazes me how they manage to get so much into what is such a relatively small space - but then having said that, surely thats what most garden design is about - the optimum use of space to achieve the greatest of effect using a multitude of materials, and more and more these days in what has to be with a sympathetic lean towards the environment. I'm not entirely sure of what the weather is doing over the Chelsea Hospital Grounds, but the wind has been b;lowing a real old Hoollie and we have had a little rain here in dry old Lincolnshire this afternoon - at last some may say, but no matter the weather, there's little to spoil what can only be described as an experience like no other.
